In addition, three saunas in the Luleå archipelago have been renovated: Midnattsolen on Kluntarna, Sjöjungfrun and Näcken on Junkön, according to the municipality. They are now ready to receive visitors, and use is free with on-site booking, Larsson said. The municipality operates ten sauna facilities on six islands.
The previous nature room on Kluntarna has been converted into a rental cottage, Larsson said. She noted that the nature room was underused, so the conversion will put it to better use. Materials from the room have been saved for renovating the archipelago museum on Junkön.
The capacity and rental price of Labben have not been disclosed. Other cottages are located on Kluntarna, Brändöskär, Småskär, and Junkön, the municipality said. Current booking occupancy for the summer high season, including Labben, is just under 60 percent, according to Larsson.
