Residents in central Halmstad can expect noisy construction work during the Easter weekend from April 3-6, according to an announcement from Halmstad Municipality. The work involves pushing large pipes under the railway at Fredsgatan using a compressor, which the municipality warns will be audible across large parts of central Halmstad during daytime hours.
The construction is part of preparations for the reconstruction of Halmstad C and a pedestrian and bicycle tunnel that will replace the railway crossing at Fredsgatan. Due to this work, train traffic has been suspended from April 3-7, with buses replacing trains during this period. Travelers are advised to check Hallandstrafiken's travel planner for updated information.
Stationsgatan and nearby parking areas are already closed, and after Easter, the municipality will need to close additional streets for safety reasons to protect workers on site. The railway crossing itself will also need to be closed for several weeks. The municipality has placed signs at the site and asks for residents' patience while the work continues, encouraging support for local businesses in the area.
