According to multiple reports, a long-lost episode of The Morecambe and Wise Show, which had remained unseen for decades and was widely believed to be lost forever, will air on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer on 14 May, coinciding with what would have been Eric Morecambe's 100th birthday.
The episode was unearthed by the charitable trust Film Is Fabulous! from the estate of a former television industry professional, the trust said. The rediscovered episode, according to the trust, is the third instalment from Morecambe and Wise's first series after they returned to the BBC from a stint with commercial television.
According to multiple reports, the episode features sketches written by Sid Green and Dick Hills. The reports also say that Ann Hamilton appears as Pauline in a sketch set in a nudist colony, Jenny Lee-Wright stars as Eric's niece who is a balloon dancer, and The Paper Dolls, a popular musical group from the 1960s, performs. It is not yet known whether the episode will be released on DVD or if the BBC will confirm any additional lost episodes.
