Rex Heuermann, a 62-year-old architect from Long Island, New York, has reportedly confessed to murdering eight women in connection with the long-unsolved Gilgo Beach murders case. According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Heuermann pleaded guilty to killing seven women and admitted to murdering an eighth victim during a court hearing on April 8, 2026.

The architect allegedly told a packed courtroom that he strangled all eight victims and dismembered some of them. He reportedly used burner phones to contact the women, many of whom were sex workers, and wrapped their bodies in burlap before dumping them in remote locations. The murders occurred over a 17-year period, with several victims buried along an isolated beach road across the bay from where Heuermann lived.

The Gilgo Beach murders, which gained national attention and were featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary "Lost Girls," have remained unsolved for years. Heuermann is expected to be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in June 2026.
