Lilja Assistans has decided to prematurely terminate the contract with Linköping Municipality regarding the provision of personal assistance, with the termination taking effect today, March 25. The municipality assesses that the risk of bankruptcy is imminent for Lilja Assistans. According to the municipality, it is taking over the provision of personal assistance for six assistance-entitled individuals in a first stage.
Lilja Assistans has had a contract with Linköping Municipality to provide personal assistance since February last year. However, conflicting reports exist on the termination date: Lilja Assistans stated in an official statement that the termination takes effect on April 1. Multiple reports indicate the termination by Lilja Assistans takes effect on April 1 at 8:00, and personnel at Lilja Assistans have received notice from their managers that the company will no longer perform jobs on behalf of the municipality after April 1 at 8:00.
This disagreement creates confusion about when the contract actually ends and when the municipality's takeover begins, affecting planning for assistance recipients and personnel. According to an official statement, Social Director Yvonne Thilander said the municipality is well-prepared for a takeover. The specific serious misconduct revealed in a previous investigation by Corren remains unknown, as does the total number of assistance-entitled individuals affected by this contract termination.
It is also unclear what the immediate consequences are for the six individuals whose assistance is being taken over in the first stage, and whether there will be any disruptions in personal assistance services during the transition period.
