Jimmy Ekström has resigned immediately as chair of the Liberalerna party in Jönköping County. He cited the party leadership's decision to agree to join a government with the Sweden Democrats as the reason, calling it a coup-like action. Ekström was among the members of Liberalerna's party board who voted against the proposal to open the door for government cooperation with the Sweden Democrats.
He stated he will participate in the digital national meeting next Sunday to freely criticize the decision, as he sees it impossible to combine that with representing the county association. Ekström also serves as a regional councilor in Jönköping County.
