Les Dennis, best known for hosting Family Fortunes in 2000, rose from the UK comedy circuit to become a TV presenter and entertainer, according to multiple reports. He was married to Amanda Holden for eight years; the couple met in 1993 while starring in The Sound of Music at Bournemouth’s Pavilion Theatre. They separated, briefly reconciled, and split for good in 2002. Dennis married Clare Nicholson in 2009.

At age 69, Dennis lost about three stone after a check-up showed he was at risk of diabetes, according to multiple reports. He had a serious bout of laryngitis in 2017 while on tour playing Uncle Fester in The Addams Family, which made him reconsider his health. Dennis found out he was pre-diabetic after a doctor's visit. He told a wire report: "I was relieved in many ways that I got laryngitis because it gave me the biggest wake-up call and made me look at my health. I had to miss the last 10 weeks of the show. I've never done that. I was doing eight shows a week. It was like an alarm bell. I knew that I had to take stock of my health." He added: "Luckily, I caught it early enough to say, 'Right, here we go, I have to do something.' It has made me take responsibility for my own health." According to Daily Express - Showbiz, Dennis described that "all the hurt that has happened has been healed."
