According to multiple reports, Matty Lusty scored early in the first half and Matthew Ridley headed in the second goal for Larne. The victory temporarily moved Larne six points ahead at the top. Glentoran's 5-0 win over Dungannon Swifts moved them back to within three points and level on goal difference with Larne. The top two teams will meet at the Oval on Friday 17 April.
In other league results, Coleraine beat Cliftonville 6-2 with a hat-trick from Joel Cooper and two goals from Matthew Shevlin. Crusaders beat Portadown 4-0, with Fraser Bryden scoring twice, moving two points clear of bottom spot. It was Crusaders' first top-flight win since 3 January. Glenavon were held to a 0-0 draw by Bangor and now sit bottom. Two late goals from Igor Rutkowski, including a penalty, helped Ballymena United beat Carrick Rangers 3-2.
In the Irish Cup quarter-finals, Dungannon Swifts beat H&W Welders 3-0, Cliftonville beat Loughgall 3-0, Coleraine beat Limavady United 2-0, and Larne defeated Glentoran in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. The semi-final draw paired Cliftonville with Dungannon Swifts, and Larne with Coleraine. The semi-finals will be played on the weekend of 3-4 April.
