The award, given by Språkrådet at the Institute for Language and Folklore (Isof), was presented on Friday. This year's theme was 'clear language at the forefront'. The entire web editorial team was present in Stockholm to receive the award.
Informationsverige.se is a guide to Swedish society for asylum seekers and newcomers, operated and developed by the integration unit at Länsstyrelsen Västra Götaland. The website has existed since 2009 and provides information in eleven languages, including the language app Hej svenska and the social orientation material Om Sverige. It is used in municipal social orientation courses and SFI courses. The development and management of the website is a government assignment to Länsstyrelsen.
It is very honorable and we feel very proud. We have been working on developing our clear language work for a long time and it feels great that the work is being noticed.
The award is given to a government agency, region, or municipality, and the winner is selected by an external jury. The jury stated: "The guide is an example of how systematic and innovative clear language work can contribute to integration and societal benefit. The editorial team uses clear language in a broader sense, where eleven different languages, images and sound work together to make Swedish society understandable." Frida Holmqvist, a developer at Länsstyrelsen, said: "It is very honorable and we feel very proud. We have been working on developing our clear language work for a long time and it feels great that the work is being noticed." Matilda Pohl, a web editor and language consultant, added: "It feels great. We put a lot of effort into collaborating with our target group to find out what they need."
It feels great. We put a lot of effort into collaborating with our target group to find out what they need. It is such an important part of being able to write texts that reach them.
