King Harald of Norway, 89, has returned to his royal duties today, Thursday, after illness and vacation. According to the court, the king received Foreign Minister Torgeir Larsen this morning together with Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon. Later, the king is reported to have met with ambassadors, and more audiences with ministers are scheduled for Friday.

The king's return follows his hospitalization just a few days after celebrating his birthday on February 21 in Tenerife. He was hospitalized due to an infection and dehydration. The court announced last weekend that the royal couple has returned from Tenerife to Norway.

At that time, the king's condition was reported to be so good that he is ready to return to his duties this week. According to the Norwegian newspaper VG, Harald and Sonja are scheduled to arrive at the royal box together with Crown Prince Haakon this coming weekend. King Harald's health has been reported on a lot in recent years.

He had a pacemaker implanted in 2024 and has been hospitalized before during his vacation trips, including in February 2024 in Malaysia. Harald has served as King of Norway since 1991.
