Kulturparken Småland, which runs Smålands museum, Sveriges glasmuseum, and Utvandrarnas hus in Växjö, says it is in an economic crisis. The board has requested an additional two million kronor per year from its owners, Region Kronoberg and Växjö municipality. Cecilia Lundin Danielsson, chair of Kulturparken Småland AB, stated that operating museums, archives, and collections involves strongly cost-demanding buildings.

Växjö municipality responded that the municipal board's presidium has discussed handling the request in the budget committee and in the active leisure process. Anna-Karin Axelsson, operations manager for culture at Region Kronoberg, wrote that the matter will be addressed at the culture committee's meeting in April, but a final decision will wait until October when the internal budget for 2027 is decided. Danielsson emphasized that drastic measures should be taken by politicians, not Kulturparken, and that they must align the economy with owner directives, highlighting the importance of education for youth, self-improvement seekers, families with children, and researchers.
