Kolmården's dolphinarium in Östergötland, Sweden, has received criticism from the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen Östergötland) following an unannounced inspection that revealed deficiencies in animal husbandry, according to reports from SVT Nyheter Öst. The inspection was conducted in November 2025 after reports suggested dolphins might have health problems related to water quality. Kristoffer Hellberg, department head at the County Administrative Board, stated that they received a complaint from the public and determined there were grounds to conduct an inspection.
'At this stage, I cannot go into what specific deficiencies are involved,' Hellberg told SVT. The animal park now has the opportunity to address the identified issues.
