Yrkeskampen is a school competition about professions and career choices. The 18 best classes from across Sweden compete, judged on time and quality. Students from Klinteskolan competed in tasks linked to one of the twelve national vocational programs, including making a bed, milking a cow, whisking meringue, and reversing with a trailer on a tramp car.
Klinteskolan was the fastest of all 18 schools in the first round. The school prepared for the final by watching old competitions on YouTube. According to Region Gotland, mentor and teacher Anna Böhme Graneskog described the first round as very exciting, noting that her students were the fastest.
It was very exciting. In the first round, they were the fastest of all 18 schools. As my colleague said, 'it has never been so exciting to watch a meringue being whisked.'
She added that everyone is interested in something practical, and the team was confident in their varied skills. All eighth graders from Klinteskolan traveled to Stockholm to watch the final and visit the parliament. Böhme Graneskog said the trip and following Yrkeskampen gave nice cohesion in the classes, and she felt incredibly proud.
Everyone is interested in something practical; some work with their parents on a farm or carpentry, others like to bake. There was a great variation in that way, which the team was very confident in.
To travel together and also follow Yrkeskampen gives a nice cohesion in the classes. I have followed this class for four years, and I feel incredibly proud.
