The statue, cast by Charles Crozatier and acquired by George IV in 1829, originally stood in the East Terrace Garden during the first nine years of Charles's life. It was removed in 1957 during a garden remodelling and later resurfaced at Kew Gardens after Queen Elizabeth approved its installation as a fountain centrepiece. The East Terrace Garden is open to visitors only on certain summer days, while Kew Gardens is open year-round.
