Key Points
  • King Charles and Queen Camilla led the 50th anniversary celebration of the King's Trust at the Royal Albert Hall.
  • The King founded the trust in 1976 to combat youth unemployment.
  • Awards were presented to young beneficiaries, including an asylum seeker from Sudan, a girl from rural India, and a man from Lancashire.

The King founded the trust in 1976 when he was the Prince of Wales with the aim to end youth unemployment. Over five decades, it has supported countless young people into education, employment, and training. Awards were presented to young people helped by the charity who went on to great achievements.

Musa, an asylum seeker from Sudan, won the L'Oreal Paris Rising Star Award after being helped by The King's Trust Explore programme. Naina from rural India received the Amal Clooney Woman's Empowerment award after the trust's partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation supported her to rejoin school. Brandon from Chorley, Lancashire, was given the Homesense Young Achiever Award after the trust helped him back into work following mental health struggles.

com, the King appeared to laugh off Sir Rod Stewart's remark. Other musicians at the celebration included Jools Holland, Craig David, and Anne-Marie. At the end of the night, Charles and Camilla switched places with Ant and Dec, with the royals on stage and the TV duo in the royal box.

May I say, well done in the Americas. You were superb, absolutely superb, put that little ratbag in his place.

Sir Rod Stewart, Musician

Sir Idris Elba accompanied King Charles to The Other Palace theatre in central London for a special event marking half a century of the National Youth Music Theatre. Idris Elba participated in NYMT at the age of 18 thanks to funding from The Prince's Trust, now known as The King's Trust. NYMT provides musical theatre experiences and opportunities to young people from diverse backgrounds.

During the visit, King Charles and Sir Idris met with students from CORE Education schools in Birmingham participating in workshops. A ceremonial cake cutting took place on stage to honour the charity's golden jubilee. The King and Sir Idris sat together to enjoy performances by NYMT students.

The charity traces its origins to 1976, when director and playwright Jeremy James Taylor staged The Ballad of Salomon Pavey with young performers from Belmont School. That inaugural production earned a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. NYMT alumni include Jude Law, Stephen Graham, Toby Jones, Amara Okereke, and Callum Scott Howells.

I've always wondered whether someone would put Ant and Dec back in their box.

King Charles, King of the United Kingdom

King Charles and Queen Camilla have prepared a packed program to honor the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth. King Charles remembered his 'darling mama' on what would have been Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday. British artist Chris Levine revealed new photographs of Queen Elizabeth II exclusively for Vanity Fair to mark the centenary.

Kate Middleton wore some of Queen Elizabeth II's favorite sets of pearls for the Buckingham Palace reception marking 100 years since the late queen’s birth. King Charles and Queen Camilla are embarking on a state visit to 'celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship' between the UK and the US. Queen Camilla and Melania Trump are to have a private meeting during the state visit.

King Charles is said to be 'looking forward to the trip', which will take place from April 27 to April 30. There is a secret history of the meeting where JFK Jr. asked Princess Diana to appear on the cover of George Magazine.

British royals from Princess Diana to Kate Middleton have stayed at The Carlyle Hotel.
