Karlskrona municipality has approved several significant economic developments this week, including major industrial investments and a new cultural center. On Tuesday, the municipal board approved a 13 million kronor investment for a new industrial area near E22 in Ramdala, north of Sturkö traffic junction. The decision gives the green light for planning of the Berntorp area.
In a separate development, cable manufacturer NKT is continuing its expansion in Karlskrona with plans to purchase a large industrial plot in Torskors from the municipality for over 7 million kronor. The company intends to build a new, large industrial building on the nearly 29,000 square meter property at Pålkranen 1 along Silvervägen.

Additionally, the municipal board approved a proposal for two new cultural buildings at Stortorget. The cultural activities will be divided into two stages and buildings, with one part being a new city library with a multi-stage facility. Jan Lennartsson (M), chairman of the steering group behind the proposal, called it "a fantastic day" and described the decision as "in some way the decisive decision."
The cultural center proposal faced criticism from the Sweden Democrats, who wanted it to be referred back for further investigation. Municipal councilor Christopher Larsson (SD) stated, "It's important that we take a position on how tax money is used," calling the decision "hasty and stressed."
