Wait times at the emergency department in Karlskrona, Sweden, have decreased drastically since last year. The department invested in having its own doctors last year, which has now shown good results according to the department. Andreas Hermansson, one of three lead doctors, said they have moved forward the competence so that doctors can make an assessment earlier in the process.
The main purpose of the lead doctors is to early determine what type of care the patient needs. This has shortened the wait time for a doctor from about 80 minutes to 55 minutes.
