Kalmar HC has extended the contract of captain Henrik Nilsson for one more season. The 34-year-old defenseman played 32 games in the regular season and all seven playoff games in the 2025-2026 HockeyAllsvenskan season. He reportedly played much of the season with a serious foot fracture that was unknown to others.
The injury requires an operation this spring with a long rehabilitation period, and he is expected to return around Christmas, missing the start of the next season. Nilsson expressed happiness about continuing with Kalmar HC, citing a special season marred by the unfortunate injury. He previously played for AIK, Almtuna, Karlskrona, and Oskarshamn in Sweden, as well as in Finland, Austria, and Hungary.
