Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam's signed Olympic competition suit was auctioned for 195,000 euros, or over two million Swedish kronor. The sale reportedly set a record on the platform MWS, surpassing items from footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. According to reports, 75 percent of the proceeds, about 1,560,000 kronor, will go to the Pijnacker Ice Skating Club, her youth club.
A club board member said the funds will help more children experience skating. Leerdam won gold in the 1,000 meters and silver in the 500 meters at the Olympics. She is also known for her social media presence and reportedly flew a private jet to the Games.
