The Jewish International Film Festival in Malmö, the first of its kind in Sweden, will open next month. Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand will give the opening speech. The festival will run for three days in April at the Palladium cinema, showing Jewish films with themes of identity, culture, history, and the present.

The festival was originally planned for last autumn to coincide with celebrations of 250 years of Jewish life in Sweden but was postponed due to difficulties finding a venue. The festival is organized by the Jewish International Film Festival in Malmö association, founded in autumn 2024, in collaboration with Kultur Malmö, Region Skåne, Film i Skåne, and the Jewish Congregation in Malmö. Liljestrand has previously faced criticism for not attending the Guldbaggegalan or Göteborg Film Festival this year.
