PoliticsPolitics
Key Points
  • Jens Fischer hired a lawyer and appealed rejected transition support.
  • Lawyer claims discrimination and regulatory violations.
  • Municipality defends its decision; councilor confident in denial.

According to multiple reports, Jens Fischer submitted his appeal to Hagfors municipality on Tuesday after his application for transition support was rejected. His lawyer, Jens Lindborg, told SVT Värmland that the municipality did not follow current regulations regarding transition support upon termination of employment. Lindborg also believes Fischer was negatively singled out.

Municipal councilor Boo Westlund (OR) told SVT Värmland he is confident in the decision to deny the support. Fischer declined to comment and referred all questions to his lawyer.

We have chosen to appeal because my client is entitled to this transition support.

I think we will be right in the end. It depends a bit on the municipality whether it becomes a long and difficult process or a short and simple one.

Now this is on its way to becoming a serial and it is of course sad that he (Jens Fischer) does not accept political decisions and that assessment he has to make himself. I am still very confident in the decision to deny him the transition support.
