NFL star Jaxon Smith-Njigba has reportedly signed a record contract with the Seattle Seahawks. 6 billion Swedish kronor, making him the highest-paid player at his position in NFL history. The contract reportedly includes an annual salary of around 400 million Swedish kronor, surpassing the previous record held by Cincinnati Bengals player Ja'Marr Chase.
Smith-Njigba was named the NFL's best offensive player last season and helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl in February. The Seahawks are reportedly aiming to strengthen their position as the NFL's best team with this move. The new contract is set to run through the 2031 season, while his existing contract reportedly extends to 2027 with a salary of approximately 222 million Swedish kronor.
The NFL season is scheduled to start again in September.
