According to reports from Göteborgs-Posten, Jared Cipparone is set to take over as head coach of Frölunda HC in Göteborg, Sweden, after the current season. This follows Erika Holst's departure from the club to become the new head coach of the Swedish women's national team, Tre Kronor. Cipparone, a 40-year-old Canadian, is currently the head coach of MoDo Hockey in Örnsköldsvik, where he has coached for the past four seasons.
He previously coached AIK and Djurgården in the SDHL, winning the Swedish championship with Djurgården in 2017. Frölunda won the Swedish championship last season and are favorites to win again this year. The coaching change is reportedly confirmed, with Cipparone to be presented officially after MoDo Hockey finishes its season.
Three current Frölunda players—Hanna Olsson, Sofie Lundin, and Andrea Dalen—were part of Djurgården's championship team in 2017 under Cipparone.
