Key Points
  • Israeli forces killed a 15-year-old Palestinian boy near Bethlehem.
  • Two other Palestinians killed in West Bank and Gaza air strikes.
  • Broader death toll: over 680 since November ceasefire, over 72,000 since October 2023, at least 40 since Iran conflict began.

The Palestinian health ministry reported that the teenager died after arriving at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. According to the Palestinian WAFA state news agency, the boy was shot in the Dheisheh camp during an Israeli military raid. The Israeli military said a Palestinian was killed after soldiers opened fire during a 'violent riot' with stones thrown at soldiers near Bethlehem. The military statement did not identify the Palestinian killed or specify why Israeli forces were in the area.

Two other Palestinian men were reported killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank on Friday, according to WAFA. In Gaza, Palestinian health officials said one man was killed in an air strike on a car in the Khan Younis area in the southern part of the territory. Medics reported that two adult brothers were killed in Shujiaya, east of Gaza City. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the two air strikes. The Hamas-affiliated Shehab News Agency said the brothers were killed in an air strike after an Israeli-backed Palestinian militia tried to abduct them. Neither Hamas nor any other militant group has identified the brothers as members. Witnesses said the two brothers, armed with guns, clashed with the militia and were later targeted by drones; Israeli tanks also opened fire.

Local health officials said the military has killed more than 680 Palestinians in Gaza since a ceasefire with Hamas came into effect in November. More than 72,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war started in October 2023, according to the same officials. Health officials in the territory said at least 40 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since the Iran conflict began a month ago. It is unknown whether the two brothers in Gaza were members of any militant group.
