Science & technologyScience
Key Points
  • 007 First Light is developed by IO Interactive and inspired by Hitman and Uncharted.
  • First mission in Iceland features Bond as a trainee aircrewman whose helicopter is shot down.
  • Gameplay emphasizes stealth, traversal, and multiple approaches to objectives.

According to major media reports, the game begins with Bond as an aircrewman in training. His helicopter is shot down off the coast of Iceland at night, and he washes up on a beach, where he must sneak past mercenaries. MI6 contacts Bond through an earpiece.

The game features traversal, stealth, and atmosphere, with usually at least two different ways to proceed in linear sections. Bond can use disguises to infiltrate a base, where MI6 survivors are held. He ignores orders to save them.

The first mission includes a semi-open section where Bond must find two groups of survivors; players can choose which group to save first and different routes. The second mission is set in Malta and is part of the 00 training programme. It is an advanced training level through sandy ancient ruins, and players can approach it in multiple ways: stealth, guns blazing, or mixed.

The release date, platforms, and full mission count remain unannounced.
