According to reports from Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet, internationally wanted drug lord Sebastian Marset was arrested in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on Friday, March 13, 2026, and was reportedly handed over almost immediately to United States authorities. Marset, described as a powerful drug leader, had been wanted in his home country Uruguay as well as in Brazil, Paraguay, and the United States. His criminal network reportedly extended to Europe and Dubai.

The suspect was allegedly handed over to representatives of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and quickly transported aboard an American plane. Marset is suspected of trafficking and smuggling primarily cocaine and marijuana, as well as money laundering. The search for him had previously led to political scandals in Uruguay after he reportedly obtained a passport despite being wanted by authorities.
