Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Inter Milan are looking to tempt Andrey Santos away from Chelsea. The Italian club have a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023. After taking time to establish himself in Chelsea's first team, Santos returned to Vasco da Gama on loan, followed by short-term stints at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg.
He was a regular under Liam Rosenior at Strasbourg in the 2024/25 season, scoring 11 goals in 34 games. Rosenior is now in charge at Chelsea, and Santos has been playing regularly under him, appearing 37 times across all competitions in the current campaign. However, he has started just 10 Premier League games this season.
Andrey, for me, is a magnificent player. He's a young player who plays way beyond his years.
Talks were held with Santos's agent last summer, which led to nothing, and Chelsea rejected an offer of around £43 million from Saudi Arabia. Inter Milan have not given up on signing Santos and will come calling again in the summer if they feel Chelsea's stance has softened. Chelsea could be tempted to cash in on Santos if a big offer comes in, but Rosenior would be unlikely to be keen on letting him go.
The Chelsea boss has been full of praise for Santos this season, saying, 'Andrey, for me, is a magnificent player. ' Chelsea's recent form has been poor, with a 3-0 loss at Everton on Saturday marking their fourth defeat in a row in all competitions. The club sit sixth in the Premier League table, but Rosenior is not panicking about their form as they look to qualify for the Champions League.
He is what I would call an 'intangibles player', where he does things in games that sometimes people don't see. He will, for example, fill a position when the ball is nowhere near him, or he'll make the right pass and two or three passes later we end up with a chance.
He stated, 'We are a point away from the Champions League. ' Rosenior noted that Chelsea have had 10 games in the league under him as a group, with 17 points, and are fourth in the Premier League table during his time in charge. ' Whether Chelsea's stance on selling Santos has actually changed remains unclear, as does what specific offer Inter Milan might make in the summer.
