Indonesia has become the first country in Southeast Asia to implement a 16-year age limit for social media. The law took effect on March 28. The Indonesian government is accusing Meta and Google of not complying with the new regulation.
There are approximately 70 million residents under 16 years old in Indonesia. Australia already has a 16-year age limit for social media, and Malaysia is currently preparing similar legislation.
