Inbetweeners Reboot in Works with Original Cast Interest
Key Points
  • The Inbetweeners reboot is reportedly in development with original cast interest
  • A movie deal is being finalized and could land on Netflix next year
  • Cast reunions and production deals are progressing

A multi-million-pound deal for another movie is being finalized, and the project could land on Netflix next year. According to Daily Mirror - Main, a source described that the deal is on the cusp of being fully rubber-stamped, with discussions ongoing about production timelines, storylines, and cast. The exact production timelines and storylines for the reboot remain unknown, and it is unclear whether the project will definitely be a movie or could include other formats like a TV series.

Cast reunions and production developments are progressing, with Emily Atack said to be up for reprising her role as Charlotte Hinchliffe. Other original cast members are reportedly considering offers to return, though which ones beyond Atack have confirmed is not yet known. According to Daily Mirror - Main, Joe Thomas described that a deal has been struck between TV production companies Fudge Park and Banijay, making more content possible.

Inbetweeners fans will be thrilled and relieved because when talk of a reboot emerged last year, there were fears it might not turn out to be a telly project. But this deal will mean the comedy will be back on our television screens for the first time in 16 years, even though it won’t in its original home on Channel 4. Netflix have been keen to make the project happen partly because its enjoyed a bit of a renaissance since old episodes aired on the streaming service and introduced a whole new generation to the show. The deal is on the cusp of being fully rubber stamped, with discussions still happening about production timelines, storylines and cast.

Creators Morris and Beesley stated that they are excited to be plotting more adventures for the original four characters. When the deal will be fully finalized and officially announced is still uncertain.

I can’t really say anything more than what’s already been put out there, which is basically that a deal has been struck between [TV production sisters] Fudge Park and Banijay, which means that it’s now possible to do more. I haven’t seen anything from them about what that might be, so I’m sort of, to a certain extent, waiting to hear as well.
