HV71 hires Mikael Sundell after heavy loss

HV71 fell heavily in a bottom-of-the-table match against Leksand on Saturday. After the match, the team became the new last-place team in the SHL. The day after the loss, the crisis club announced it is strengthening its leadership staff with Mikael Sundell.

According to general manager Johan Hult, Sundell will support the leaders and focus on the team's five-on-five play. Sundell most recently served as an assistant coach in Modo, but reportedly left that role along with head coach Mattias Karlin, who was fired. According to reports, Sundell was fired from Modo Hockey on December 7 along with Karlin.

He has now reportedly gotten a new job with crisis team HV71. It is reportedly a loan deal for the rest of the season.
