Huawei launches Pura X Max with unique foldable design
Key Points
  • Huawei launches Pura X Max with unique foldable design and Kirin 9030 Pro chipset
  • Features 5.4-inch outer and 7.7-inch inner displays with LTPO 2.0 and 120 Hz refresh rate
  • Runs Harmony OS 6.1, likely limited to China

According to multiple reports, the Pura X Max has a smaller, elongated outer screen compared to regular book-style foldables. The device sports a 5.4-inch outer display (1848 x 1264 pixels) and a 7.7-inch inner display (1848 x 1264 pixels) with a 14.1:10 aspect ratio. Both screens feature LTPO 2.0 technology with a 1–120 Hz refresh rate and 1440 Hz PWM dimming. The phone can be used with a stylus called M-Pen 3 Mini.

Other specifications include a 5300 mAh battery with 66 W charging, an IP58/IP59 rating, up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The Pura X Max has a total of five cameras: main, telephoto, and ultra-wide on the back, plus 8 MP front cameras for each screen. The operating system is Harmony OS 6.1 because Huawei is no longer allowed to use Android. According to reports, initially Harmony OS was just a branch of AOSP, but now it has nothing to do with Android and is not Linux-based. Harmony OS uses the proprietary microkernel Hongmeng.

The Pura X Max will likely not be released outside China. The exact release date and price have not been announced, and it remains unclear whether the device will be available in any international markets.
