  • Over 1000 additional hotel workers walked out Thursday morning, bringing total to over 3000.
  • No negotiations are scheduled between the unions and NHO Reiseliv.
  • The unions say they are ready to negotiate but the employer side has not moved.

The strike, which has been ongoing, intensified Thursday when more than 1000 workers joined the walkout, according to multiple reports. This brings the total number of striking hotel workers to over 3000. The walkout began at 8:00 AM Thursday.

No meetings are planned between the parties today, according to the unions Fellesforbundet and Parat. The unions have expressed readiness to negotiate but say the employer side, NHO Reiseliv, has not moved. According to NRK Nyheter, Bettina Thorvik, communications manager at Fellesforbundet, described the union as ready to meet NHO Reiseliv anytime and anywhere as soon as they are ready to move, but that they have not done so far. She added that the union is always ready to meet when NHO Reiseliv has moved.

We are ready to meet NHO Reiseliv anytime and anywhere as soon as they are ready to move, but they haven't done so so far.

The specific demands of the striking workers remain unclear, as does the position of NHO Reiseliv on the strike. It is not known how long the strike is expected to last or what impact it is having on hotel operations. There are no known mediation efforts underway at this time.

We are always ready to meet NHO Reiseliv when they have moved. Then we'll see what the day brings.
