Homeowner finds 15-year-old prepper stash in crawl space
Key Points
  • Homeowner found 15-year-old stash in crawl space of newly purchased house.
  • Stash included canned food, water, and bins labeled with supplies.
  • Previous owner reportedly started prepping after Obama's election.

The homeowner, who bought the house a year ago, said the house inspector had noted bins, canned food, and water in the crawl space. The previous owner was asked to remove the stash but apparently did not remove all of it. The crawl space section is isolated and hard to access due to the foundation, the homeowner wrote on Reddit.

The stash included cooking oil, pasta, canned peaches, tomatoes, peas, and jars of pickled food. The homeowner also found a dozen Home Depot bins labeled rice, ramen, MREs, potatoes, and other items. There are gallon jugs of water with expiration dates in late 2008.

The previous owner reportedly got into prepping after Barack Obama was elected. The homeowner added that there are supposedly things buried in the backyard as well. The exact condition of the canned food is unclear, and it is unknown what the homeowner did with the stash.
