Arvidsjaur municipality is considering a major school reorganization following high sick leave rates among principals, according to a report from SVT Nyheter. During 2025, three out of six principals in the municipality were reportedly on sick leave due to high workload, prompting a comprehensive review of the school system.
School chief Peter Andersson stated that a unifying leadership structure is needed in elementary schools to improve principals' working conditions. The proposals under consideration include either a 'storerektor' (super principal) with deputy principals or an elementary school chief with regular principals.

The potential reorganization has been met with mixed reactions from school staff. While one principal interviewed by SVT sees both advantages and disadvantages, many teachers expressed concerns. Some teachers referenced a previous attempt at implementing a super principal system in 2018-2019, which they described as unsuccessful due to poor communication.
A decision on whether to maintain the current organization or implement one of the new structures was reportedly scheduled for March 20, 2026. The municipality's school system serves approximately 600 students across its six schools.
