Helsingborg city is reportedly withholding several million kronor from construction company Peab Anläggning AB following the termination of their maintenance contract last year. According to Helsingborgs Dagblad, the city ended its agreement with Peab for the maintenance of central areas and beaches after the company allegedly failed to properly fulfill its duties to keep Helsingborg clean and tidy.
The contract termination came after a final inspection revealed thousands of defects and shortcomings in Peab's work. Specific issues cited include overflowing trash bins and uncleaned beach ramps, which were among numerous deficiencies identified during the inspection process.
Helsingborgs Dagblad had previously reported in November of last year that the city terminated the contract with Peab Anläggning AB because the work was poorly executed. The current financial withholding represents the city's response to the documented maintenance failures discovered during the final assessment of Peab's performance under the now-terminated agreement.
