Two cars collided in an accident in Ås in Akershus late Saturday evening. According to police, several people are involved, some trapped, and it appears serious. The report came in to the police at 23:11, and emergency services arrived at the scene at 23:26.
Life-saving first aid was performed on one person upon arrival. Two others from the same car are transported to the hospital with critical injuries. One last person from the same car is described as not seriously injured.
Both the driver and passenger in the other car are assessed as not seriously injured. Based on information at the scene, it appears that the car with four people came over into the oncoming lane, according to operations leader Gisle Lindheim Sveen. The road is closed in both directions.
There is conflicting information about the total number of people involved: NRK reports six people are involved, while NRK Nyheter reports five people are involved. The cause of the car entering the oncoming lane has not been determined. The current conditions of the critically injured individuals are unknown.
The road closure remains in effect as authorities investigate the scene.
