Andreas Andersson from Halmstad has spent three years responding to suspected cardiac arrest alerts through the SMS-livräddare program, often arriving before ambulances reach the scene. According to SVT Halland, Andersson is one of approximately 8,400 volunteer heart and lung rescuers in the Halland region. Despite having no medical background, he completed a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLR) course through the Home Guard before joining the alert system.

The program notifies nearby volunteers when someone is suspected of having a cardiac arrest, allowing them to provide immediate assistance while waiting for professional medical help. Andersson described the experience as initially chaotic but said the training quickly takes over, telling him what to do. He receives multiple alerts per week and has been the first responder on several occasions when someone was found unconscious.
