Juha Marttilla from Hällefors, Sweden, is appealing his conviction for the murder of 46-year-old Annelie, according to reports from Nerikes Allehanda. Marttilla was sentenced in February to 18 years in prison by Örebro District Court for the crime. In his appeal filed to Göta Court of Appeal, Marttilla is seeking complete acquittal, denying any wrongdoing.
His defense claims that Annelie's death may have been an accident and that the evidence against him is insufficient. According to Expressen, Marttilla, 56, was convicted of murdering his cohabiting partner Annelie. The appeal process is now underway as Marttilla challenges the district court's verdict.
