Håkan Ringkvist, known as a combative chairman of Smederna and now AFC Eskilstuna, has entered local politics by starting the party Ett bättre Eskilstuna. This is not his first political venture; before the 2014 election, he and others from the hospitality industry launched the party Join The Parti, which was not a success and never won a seat in the municipal council. Ringkvist says that party was purely a protest party, but now it is a different matter.
According to him, more common sense is needed in Eskilstuna politics, and he believes things can change for the better with relatively simple solutions. He does not want to place the party on the traditional left-right scale, stating that they only work for Eskilstuna and can cooperate with anyone who has good ideas.
