In central Malmö, a grey heron named Hasse has become a regular visitor to the city's fish stalls, where he receives daily servings of luxury fish including herring, cod, and salmon. According to fish seller Sölve Stenberg, Hasse has visited the fish stalls every day for four consecutive winters, establishing himself as the dominant bird in the area.

From his perch on a nearby roof, Hasse keeps watch over the canal and the fish sellers, waiting for his meals. Stenberg reports that the heron typically stays about three meters away. 'You can't feed him by hand yet, but maybe soon,' Stenberg told SVT Skåne.

The fearless heron isn't alone in seeking food at the stalls. Several other birds and another heron also venture forward, but according to Stenberg, 'It's Hasse who decides.' When asked how they know it's specifically Hasse, Stenberg explained, 'It can be a bit difficult to distinguish, but since Hasse has been ruling here for so long, we think it's him.'

The story of Hasse has become a local attraction at Malmö's fish stalls, where visitors can watch the long-necked bird patrol his territory and enjoy his daily gourmet meals.
