From March 9, you no longer need to use a physical bus card when traveling with Gotland's public transport. It is now possible to purchase a period ticket in Gotland's public transport mobile app and also have the ticket digitally in the app. Until now, the period tickets, such as the 30-day ticket and annual ticket, could only be purchased and used as a physical bus card.
From March 9, it is possible to have a digital bus card in the app. se, at ticket agents, or on board the buses. For it to work with a digital bus card, the mobile app Gotlands kollektivtrafik needs to be updated to the latest version.
Your device needs to have iOS 17 or later for Apple devices or Android 13 or later for Android devices installed. The old app will function during a transition period, and already purchased tickets will work on the buses. When you have purchased the ticket via the app, it remains in your mobile phone.
On your ticket, you see how much time is left before it expires and whether you have paid for a full or reduced price ticket. Additionally, you see the ticket price and date. To use the ticket, tap your phone with the ticket against the ticket reader.
Remember to have your phone charged during the entire journey. To purchase a 30-day ticket, choose price category – full or reduced price – and then click into the 30-day ticket and complete the purchase. The ticket is valid for 30 days, from when you activate the ticket in the app until the last valid day.
For an annual ticket, choose price category – full or reduced price – and click on annual ticket and purchase the ticket. The ticket is valid for 365 days, from when you activate the ticket in the app until the last valid day.
