Region Gotland has announced a new routine for latrine collection that requires customers to order collection instead of receiving automatic service. Previously, customers with subscriptions received automatic collection during the summer, while winter collection needed to be ordered. Now, collection must always be ordered regardless of the season, according to the region.
The change is intended to avoid unnecessary transports to properties where collection is not needed, thereby reducing emissions and contributing to more sustainable waste management, the region said. The contractor will follow a fixed schedule, and subscribers must book collection on a scheduled day. Information about the new routine is being sent by letter to affected customers.
Additionally, customers must now order labels for container identification. If customers already have labels, they can still be used. Orders are made via the region's e-service. The exact start date of the new routine has not been announced, and details on costs or fees for ordering have not been disclosed.
