According to Gothenburg City, the Sports and Association Administration has not adjusted price levels on existing subscriptions when making price increases for several years. This has over time led to an incorrect price difference between different customers, where some pay different prices for the same subscription depending on when the agreement was signed. The city is now correcting the price difference by adjusting old prices to current levels.
The change applies to customers with a subscription without a binding period that remains at an earlier price level. For some customers, this change means an increase, while for others it means a small decrease. When a customer's binding period expires, their subscription will automatically receive the current price, and subscriptions will automatically continue with the new price.
To change or cancel a subscription, customers must contact Gothenburg City by July 1 via the contact form, by calling 031-368 20 00, or by visiting the reception. Invoices are created in the system the month before, so to avoid unnecessary invoices, customers are encouraged to contact Gothenburg City as soon as possible. Customers who train at facilities that only offer gym and group training—such as Geråshallen, Tuvevallen, Länsmansgårdens, or Vättlefjälls motionscentrum—can downgrade their gold card to a gym and group training card for free, which does not include swimming.
To downgrade a gold card, customers must contact the reception staff at their facility or call 031-368 20 00 by July 1, 2026. If customers do not want the current price on their card, they can cancel it without notice by July 1, 2026. Usually, the notice period is one month, but as a service to affected customers, Gothenburg City will offer help with possible downgrading of gold cards or cancellation without notice.
After July 1, the usual rules for notice periods apply. se. Discounts, such as for students or physical activity on prescription (FaR), apply as usual, but customers need to show a new certificate to continue the discount if the old one expires.
