Google has introduced a new dictation app called AI Edge Eloquent, positioning it as a competitor to Wispr. The app allows users to speak freely and receive cleaned-up or rewritten text, using local models to process speech without data leaving the device. Users can add custom words to a dictionary to prevent corrections.
Google emphasizes that the app requires no subscription and has no usage limits, a feature seen as a jab at Wispr. Currently available only for iOS, Google plans to expand to more platforms, including desktop, according to an FAQ.
