  • Final two races at Goodwood abandoned after winning horse slips in pull-up area
  • Stewards deemed pull-up area unsafe following inspection
  • Jockey Cieren Fallon slipped but caught his mount; no confirmed injuries

Multiple reports said the 9-4 favourite Yabher slipped after winning the 1m1f handicap by six lengths, causing jockey Cieren Fallon to slip from the saddle before catching his mount. The stewards ordered the abandonment after an inspection involving jockeys Charles Bishop, Daniel Muscutt, Robert Havlin, trainer Richard Hughes, the clerk of the course, a veterinary officer, and a BHA course inspector. According to clerk of the course Ed Arkell, the ground was described as quick flat racing ground with a heavy rain shower that caused slipping, and remedial work was carried out but was insufficient.

The stewards' report noted that three horses slipped on the pull-up area after race six. The two abandoned races were the Fitzdares Offers Bespoke Bets Handicap and the Fitzdares Telephone and Text Betting Service Handicap, with the announcement made on Racing TV. It is not yet known whether any horses or jockeys were injured, or if the races will be rescheduled.
