Jonathan Slowey was convicted last month of 15 charges including rape of three victims and sentenced to 14 years in prison. The crimes occurred between 2012 and 2023 in Glasgow's East End, East Dunbartonshire, and Aberdeen. Judge Bruce Erroch KC ordered Slowey to be supervised for four years after release and said, 'All three women have spoken of the lasting psychological and emotional harm from what you did to them.
' Jonathan Slowey denied all sexual offending and claimed the women and police plotted against him. Prosecutor Kath Harper KC said Slowey created 'a cocktail of fear and submission' for the women. The physical attacks included punching, choking, and spitting.
All three women have spoken of the lasting psychological and emotional harm from what you did to them. You deny all sexual offending and say all of them colluded with one another.
One victim had sex with Slowey outside only because she was scared of what would happen if she refused. Another victim feared she might be drowned in a canal. Jonathan Slowey will be placed on the sex offenders register and barred from contacting the victims.
How quickly the possessive jealousy of Jonathan Slowey took hold. He subjected them to constant accusations of cheating. He took control of their movements, who they were with, checked their phones, wore down their self-esteem, called them horrid names. He isolated them from friends and relatives - the family (of two of the women) desperately tried to stop what was happening. They could see the deterioration in their loved one, but could not get through to them.
