A girl in Höglandet, Sweden, has been sentenced to seven months of youth supervision for raping a child on two occasions. She was also ordered to pay 290,000 kronor in damages to the 12-year-old boy who was subjected to the rapes. Both the girl and the boy stated that they had some kind of relationship at the times of the incidents and that he let her into his room.
The girl reported the events herself, and both the Eksjö District Court and the prosecutor noted that without her cooperation, the crimes would not have been investigated. This is one reason the sentence is lower than it would otherwise be; for a person over 18, the minimum penalty is three years in prison.
