George Michael's black leather jacket from his 1988 Faith tour has been sold at auction for £60,000, according to auction house Propstore. The jacket, which Propstore said was worn in the 'Faith' music video as part of his rock-and-roll image, was among other music memorabilia sold at the same event. The jacket was made by La Rocka and customised by Russell Tate with a BSA logo and crystals, Propstore noted.
Mark Hochman, the auction house's music specialist, told the BBC that a fan purchased the jacket and it will stay in the UK. The item had been in storage from the end of the Faith tour until it reached Propstore in 2025, according to the auctioneer. George Michael said in a 2010 interview, as reported by BBC News, that he created the Faith image himself without a stylist.
The whole 'Faith' image was all me. I came up with the leather jacket and everything else. I didn't use a stylist - I don't think I could have afforded one!
Other items in the sale included a Slash guitar from the Guns N' Roses reunion tour, a Freddie Mercury microphone and a John Lennon autograph, Propstore confirmed. The final price including buyer's premium was not disclosed, the auction house added. Propstore said the auction results show the enduring appeal of these artists.
