GE Healthcare invests 550m kroner in Norway expansion
Key Points
  • GE Healthcare invests 550 million NOK to expand X-ray contrast medium production in Lindesnes.
  • Expansion to be completed by early 2028, securing jobs and market share.
  • Local road fylkesvei 469 is dangerous; new road is a top priority for all parties.

According to NRK Sørlandet, project manager Pål Erik Pedersen said the expansion will secure and increase the number of jobs and maintain the company's market share. Factory director Jon Gabriel Noddeland told the broadcaster that the company has demonstrated its ability to find the most cost-effective alternative for increasing capacity.

The current road serving the facility, fylkesvei 469, is winding, narrow, and poses a risk, according to officials. Business manager Kjell Rune Olsen told NRK Sørlandet that a new road route is the top wish for all parties. He added that the county mayor is going all-in to create a new county road and is working on connecting it to the new E39 highway. Olsen predicted that a new road will be achieved.

The development this company has had in our municipality creates ripple effects throughout the entire region and the country. It is a fairy tale.

According to NRK Sørlandet, Olsen described the company's development as having ripple effects throughout the region and the country.

When we increase capacity, we both secure and increase the number of jobs. This also maintains our market share.

But the current road out here, county road 469, is winding and narrow and poses a risk. A new route is at the top of the wish list for all parties.
