The Godisfabriken building in Gävle has been nominated for the prestigious 'Allmännyttans bästa bygge 2026' award, which recognizes Sweden's best public housing projects. According to reports, 15 building projects across the country are competing for the title in this year's competition.
The nomination was first reported by Gefle Dagblad on March 23, 2026. The competition is organized by Sveriges allmännytta, which has nominated projects from both large and small municipalities across Sweden.
Among the other nominated projects is Snödroppen in Torsås, a senior housing facility designed by White Arkitekter. The 21-unit building, which will be Torsås's tallest residential building, is noted for how well it integrates with the surrounding smaller-scale architecture.
An independent jury will assess all 15 nominated projects, with the winner to be announced at the allmännyttans fastighetsdagar (public housing property days) on May 6-7, 2026.
